MEET DENNIS MILLIGAN
A lifetime of service and delivering results
Dennis Milligan is the current Auditor of State. He was elected in 2022 with 67% of the vote and is seeking a second term in office. During his first term as Auditor, he returned almost $100 million in unclaimed property to current and former citizens of Arkansas.
As Auditor, Milligan serves as the state's accountant and ensures payroll for the state's executive, legislative and judicial branches of government. Additionally, he oversees the state's Unclaimed Property program, the Great Arkansas Treasure Hunt, and works to reconnect Arkansans with money that is rightfully theirs.
During his first 18 months as Auditor, he updated the office's outdated payroll system at no additional cost to taxpayers, ensuring that more than 700 payroll recipients were transferred to the new system seamlessly.
Milligan also implemented a new Data Match Program that cuts red tape and allows Arkansans to get their unclaimed property easier. Thanks to the Arkansas Legislature, which unanimously approved this program, he is now mailing out more money each year than any prior Auditor in the program’s known history.
Act 114 of 2025 allows Milligan to automatically mail citizens a check for their unclaimed property, valued between $50 and $5,000, so long as his office can verify the money rightfully belongs to someone. Milligan is hopeful this new program will help him clean up his office's rolls while putting a substantial amount of money back into the state's economy at a time when many people are struggling.
Milligan comes from the private sector where he owned and operated a small business for 35 years, expanding it into 17 states before selling it in recent years, and Dennis brings that small business mindset to the State Capitol. His motto: "Results matter."
Milligan has spent the last 25 years in public service, addressing corruption and restoring trust at both the county and state levels. He served as Saline County Circuit Clerk prior to being elected to two terms as Treasurer of State. As Treasurer, he cleaned up the mess made by Martha Shoffner while earning the state its then-highest investment receipts in history at more than $600 million dollars.
Milligan is a lifelong Arkansan who is married to his junior high school sweetheart, Tina. Together they have one daughter and son-in-law and three beautiful grandchildren.
